Carr Athletics | Triathlon & Run Coaching
Hi, I’m Michelle — I have 15 years of experience in the fitness industry, health and fitness has become my passion. While striving to be the best athlete I can be, I have devotion for helping others find their why and achieve their goals.
-
I’ve always been passionate about motivating others to live healthy lives, reach their physical goals, and I always have a positive attitude. Coaching has long been a dream of mine, but the timing never felt quite right until the end of 2024. I truly believe everything happens for a reason—when it’s meant to, and with the right people. I’m excited and grateful to be working alongside Jamie on this new adventure.
When I’m not training or coaching, you’ll usually find me reading or binge-watching Netflix shows. Some random facts about me are I love history, especially American history, family means a lot to me and I enjoy spending time with them and I love plants. Although, my green thumb could be better.

Sports have always been a huge part of my life.
I grew up as a competitive figure skater, spending countless hours on the ice learning discipline, grit, and what it means to work toward long-term goals. Skating shaped who I was as an athlete, but after stepping away from the rink, I found a new outlet in running. What started as a way to stay active quickly turned into a passion for endurance sport and the process of getting stronger over time.
Nutrition changed the way I trained.
As I got deeper into running and strength training, I realized how big of a role fueling, recovery, and overall balance play in performance. That realization led me to become a nutrition coach, so I could better understand how to support the body from the inside out, not just through workouts.
I’m still an athlete — and a coach.
Today, I’m a strength coach, nutrition coach, and run coach with Empire State Endurance. I love helping athletes train smarter, fuel better, and build confidence in their bodies. My approach is practical, sustainable, and built around real life — because training should enhance your life, not take it over.
Helping others do the same.
Through my own transitions from skating to running to coaching, I’ve learned that no two athletes are the same. I take pride in creating individualized plans that support both performance and long-term health. Whether someone is chasing a PR or simply trying to feel stronger and more consistent, my goal is always the same: help them show up feeling capable, supported, and excited to train.
Outside of training.
When I’m not coaching or in the gym, I’m usually chasing my two kids, hanging out with our very fluffy German shepherd (who refuses to be my running buddy), working on home remodel projects, or curled up with my Kindle.

Hi, I’m Shawn — I was always active as a kid — I loved riding my bike, playing baseball and played basketball through high school. Through my life experience, I found the love for biking and joined a cycling team, Team Brewery Ommegang, that I remain active in today.

From Active Kid to Finding My Way Back
I was always active as a kid — I loved riding my bike, playing baseball and played basketball through high school. After school I found myself too busy for sports, and over time I gained weight and lacked energy. Thirteen years ago I knew the time had come to take action to become healthy and active again. I bought a bike and started going out on trail rides with friends. Every week I looked forward to those rides and the weight started coming off. Over the course of a year I lost 50 pounds and fell in love with cycling.
When Cycling Became More Than a Hobby
My son caught the cycling bug as well and motivated me to get NICA certified to assistant coach his high school mountain biking team. I enjoyed working with the kids and seeing my son progress as a cyclist. I also joined a cycling team, Team Brewery Ommegang, that I remain active in today. Over the last year several friends were training for their first tri and asked for my help with the cycling component. I truly enjoyed the process of helping others learn about cycling, how to choose a bike and how to maintain their bike. It inspired me to work towards my cycling coaching certification.
Still Riding, Still Growing
The last thirteen years have been filled with countless cycling miles, hundreds of races over the northeast and at least sixteen bike purchases! I am super excited to start my next cycling chapter as part of the Empire State Endurance team and look forward to helping others that want to learn how to become a cyclist from the ground up.
